What a better way to continue the politic discussion than with a redesign from a Mexican political party BASED ON BATMAN!
Movimiento Ciudadano is a democratic socialist party initially known as Convergence for Democracy in 1998 and reformed on 31 July 2011; and for those who are not Mexicans, this political party is not one of the smallest political parties in the country, but people still recognize its identity.
With the aim of continuing growing and attracting new voters, Movimiento Ciudadano has decided to redesign its identity with the help of the consulting agency specialized in political marketing, “eu-zên”.
“We played a lot with that, that it looked like Batman … not a political party.”
– Rafael Valenzuela, Consultant fromeu-zên
The new design, which according to the agency took 6 months, seeks to show the new values and young essence of the political party by having a new abstraction of the eagle holding a serpent – national symbol found in the Mexican flag -, a lighter orange (representative color of the brand), and a free new typography named Heavitas, which you can find in dafont.com!!!!
I know right? This sounds like a disaster, but honestly, the new emblem is well-executed and the negative space is kind of interesting, not great, but interesting, and it will easily stand out from the ballot, which was one of its objectives. Something had to compensate the usage of a free font with bad kerning.
But before launching the brand refresh, the political party announced its redesign with a series of posters in its social media, very DC Comics’ style, if you don’t believe me, judge for yourself.
Honestly, is for this type of things that the graphic design is seen as a joke, and that this political party cannot be taken seriously, would you vote for a political party that portraits itself as the superhero – literally- that is going to save your country?
But well… That’s my F Opinion
