The most famous social network unveiled its new logo, not ugly but for me something unnecessary. They say is because they wanted to make it feel more friendly and approachable now that they are established.
I know #facebook is getting full of adults and the new generations are using Snapchat orVine, so they wanted to approach the new cool kids, but for me the logotype was already recognizable, the new one seems a little generic.
The new wordmark is a custom typeface created by the Facebook’s in-house design team in collaboration with Eric Olson, and it’s based on the typography used in the first logo “Klavika”. (also designed by Eric Olson). The original logo was designed in 2005 by Joe Kral and Cuban Council.
